How do I install the power supply into my computer case?

I bought this book on how to build computers and they skip the step on how to install the power supply because they think I should buy a case withe the power supply already installed. However I want to choose my own power supply. Could anybody tell me where to find a guide online to install the power supply. Or if you can please give very detailed, step by step instructions.

(assuming you have a ATX motherboard) there is 4 pin peripheral cables SATA cables and Cables for the mother board. Ground yourself by touching a light switch or something else grounded. you then slide it in the case were ever the built in brackets are, then connect the 20 + 4 pin rectangular connector to the matching slot on the motherboard aligning the clips. Another 4 pin square cable should also go into the motherboard. Plug in the small and flat SATA plugs into any SATA hard drive or CD Rom drive. Then Plug the 4 pin Peripheral cables in to any remaining drives. all plugs note used can hang down as long as they don’t catch in a fan. some cases require more cables for fans and led lights.
*note all the plugs have shaped corners that fit only one way into a socket.
